The self-appointed internet police have enforced a curfew on Selena Gomez after she attempted to defend her BFF Taylor Swift.

Right after Kim Kardashian exposed Taylor’s lies and potentially tainted her saccharine image, Selena came out to defend her on Twitter.

She tweeted: “There are more important things to talk about… Why can’t people use their voice for something that f***ing matters?”

Twitter user @prasejeebus then interjected with this tweet: “Good question! Why haven’t you or Taylor not said a thing about #BlackLivesMatter or police brutality?”

Selena then hit back, tweeting: “oh lol so that means if I hashtag something I save lives? No -I could give two f***s about ‘sides’. You don’t know what I do.”

Of course the internet mob was, like, so not cool with that and promptly put the 23-year-old singer on blast for the remainder of the evening. The hashtag #GoToSleepSelena even trended.

“I’m still shocked at what selena tweeted about #blacklivematter like how ignorant can you be #GoToSleepSelena,” user @caringarianas tweeted.

Another user, @pettyblackboy, also chimed in: “#GoToSleepSelena Girl I ain’t even know you made music. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU EVEN SPEAKING?”

“Telling people what to use their voice for when you don’t even use your voice at your concerts… #GoToSleepSelena,” @AUSTENLIAM tweeted.

We’re guessing Selena’s army of fans, she has a big one by the way, will now declare war on that hashtag with one of their own.

In the meantime, we will try and decipher how throwing an unrelated topic into the mix can cause that level of escalation.
