It seems like yesterday when we saw a small 10-year-old Malia enter the White House after her father was elected the 44th President of The United States in 2008.

But now Malia is an all grown up woman, ready to go to Harvard this fall, and start a new exciting chapter in her life.

And although the former president is happy for her little girl, he can’t help it to feel a little blue now that she’s off to college.

“Malia is more than ready to leave. But I’m not ready for her to leave,” he said in an interview. “She’s one of my best friends. And it’s going to be hard not to have her around all the time. But she’s ready to go. You can tell. She’s just a really smart, capable person and she’s ready to make her own way.”

We are not crying, you’re crying!

To celebrate Malia’s 19 birthday this week, and to sob over Obama’s special bond with her eldest daughter, we share with you our favorite 19 pictures of Malia and her daddy.
