Right now, somewhere in the world, there’s a Gwyneth Paltrow reading the news and smiling…

After nearly four years together, comedian Sarah Silverman, 47, has announced her split from boyfriend and also comedian Michael Sheen 49, in a very “Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin” style tweet.

“The great @michaelsheen & I consciously uncoupled over Christmas. I mean, not ‘over Christmas’— like that wasn’t the fight that ended it. No fight. We just live in different countries & it got hard. Felt we should just tell y’all so u stop askin, ‘How’s Michael/How’s Sarah?’”

And while the message did make it clear that the couple ended in good terms, Sara forgot one small detail that made the announcement seem a little cruel: the comedian posted the tweet on Monday, February 5, which just so happened to b Michael Sheen’s birthday.

““The joke here is I just realized I posted our breakup tweet on his actual birthday and I can’t believe what a d*** I am,” she joked with her followers. “Can u believe it?? He said I wasn’t THOUGHTFUL,” she added. “Jerk… Anyway, Happy Birthday, Michael…”

During their time together, the then-couple often joked about their long-distance relationship saying they were “oceans” apart, with Sheen residing in Wales and Silverman living in Los Angeles.

Sarah and Michael met on the set of the Showtime series Masters of Sex, and started dating in 2014. “He really classes me up, and I just pull him right down to my level, unfortunately for him,” Sarah said of her relationship in an interview. “Yes, I’m happy, and I’m very lucky.”

The comedian even gushed over Sheen to her ex-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, whom she dated for seven years, from 2002 to 2009, during a stop on his late-night talk show in June 2017.

“I’m so happy to have him be a part of my life and to get to be a part of his life,” she said. “I don’t think I ever really knew what love was.”
