Avengers (Photo: Release)

They may be busy saving the galaxy from destruction or saving Earth from alien threats, but most of the actors and actresses who play your favorite Marvel super heroes and villains have a very impressive filmography. If you have ever wondered where you have seen a certain caped crusader before, here are a few places you may have seen these amazing MCU stars.

Robert Downey Jr.
He may play one of the most powerful men in the world as Tony Stark in the Iron Man movies, but Robert Downey Jr. hasn’t always played the role of the millionaire playboy philanthropist. He started acting at a very early age with his first credits on IMDB going back to 1970. Some of his most memorable early films include.

Weird Science (1985)
RDJ played alongside other memorable 80s actors such as Anthony Michael Hall in his coming-of-age comedy.

Johnny Be Good (1988)
Robert starred as Leo Wiggins, alongside Uma Thurman, Paul Gleason, and Anthony Michael Hall once again in another 80s-teen comedy that focuses on high school football.

Chris Evans
Our Captain has taken on many different roles in the past, including playing another Marvel character in Fox’s original version of the Fantastic Four movies. But he has also stepped away from the superhero spotlight to make a wide range of comedies and dramas.

Push (2009)
Evans starred as Nick Gant, along with Dakota Fanning in this futuristic sci-fi action thriller where humans develop special powers.

The Nanny Diaries (2007)
Starring alongside his Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson, the Nanny Diaries is a movie about a college graduate who goes to work for the rich and famous in New York and learns all the dysfunctional secrets of the family. Chris plays a small role, simply titled the “Harvard Hottie” but it’s a memorable role for his fans.

Sebastian Stan
The brooding Winter Soldier may have a very complex storyline, but it’s one of the best roles of Romanian-born actor Sebastian Stan’s career. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had some other excellent opportunities to play memorable characters in the past.

Once Upon a Time (2012)
In the Disney-inspired fairy tale TV show on ABC, Sebastian starred as another complex character Jefferson, also known as The Mad Hatter in the alternate universe. It sounds confusing if you haven’t watch the show, but it’s a great series.

The Covenant (2006)
In what was probably his breakout role, Sebastian starred as Chase Collins in this film about a group of young warlocks who are just beginning to get the full extent of their powers. Chase’s family was exiled from sacred covenant of witches and he comes back to seek his revenge.

Scarlett Johansson
The Black Widow is one Avenger that you don’t want to mess with. Scarlett has helped raise the bar for female superheroes in her role in the MCU. But she has also played some very memorable parts in other films as well.

The Horse Whisperer (1997)
In one of her breakthrough roles as a young actress, Scarlett played Grace Maclean who was severely traumatized after an incident with her horse. The movie also starred Robert Redford and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Lost in Translation (2003)
Scarlett played Charlotte in this film alongside Bill Murray and Giovanni Ribisi in this drama about a faded movie star and neglected young woman who’s paths cross while staying in Tokyo.

Chadwick Boseman
He made an impressive debut as the Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, but Chadwick has starred in several other films and TV shows before he entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

42 (2013)
Chadwick had the starring role in this baseball film about the infamous Jackie Robinson. The film covered Robinson’s struggles as he became the first African American Major League Baseball player.

Get on Up (2014)
Chadwick also played the leading role in this James Brown biopic that also starred Dan Aykroyd, Lennie James, and Jill Scott.

Jeremy Renner
As Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner never misses his target. And that could be way he has taken on so many roles that involve a keen eye and sharp shooting skills.

The Hurt Locker (2008)
This dramatic war film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and won an Academy Award. Renner took the leading role in this movie as Staff Sergeant William James, and teamed up with his Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie, who played Sergeant JT Sanborn.

North Country (2005)
Renner starred as Bobby Sharp in this drama about a fictional account of the very first major sexual harassment case in the United States. The movie also starred Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand.

Chris Hemsworth
The almighty Thor is one of the most powerful of all the Avengers, and Chris Hemsworth has played the role perfectly over the years. The young actor quickly made a name for himself in Hollywood in a variety of film roles.

The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
Chris played Curt in this dark comedy horror movie about a group of friends who stay in an abandoned cabin, only to find out that they are being filmed for a reality show.

Red Dawn (2012)
Chris starred as Jed Eckert in this remake of the 80s film that starred Patrick Swayze. This movie also starred Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, and Adrianne Palicki.

Mark Ruffalo
While Marvel has finally managed to get the image of the Incredible Hulk right on the big screen, the Avengers isn’t the first time we have seen Mark Ruffalo play a memorable role.

13 Going on 30 (2004)
In this fun coming-of-age tale, Mark played Matt Flamhaff, the best friend and potential love interest of Jennifer Garner. The comedy also stars Judy Greer, Andy Serkis, and Kathy Baker.

Reservation Road (2007)
In this crime drama, Mark plays Dwight Arno. The film is about the lives of two families which chances forever after a fatal tragedy takes place. The film also stars Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly.

Elizabeth Olsen
The youngest Olsen sister has taken the route of a successful Hollywood actress and is doing very well for herself, especially in her latest role as the Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But she has also been in many other popular and indie films in the past.

Silent House (2011)
In this suspenseful horror movie, Elizabeth plays a young woman named Sarah who is helping her Dad and Uncle clear out an old family home to sell. Secrets are revealed that turns Sarah’s life upside down as memories of her children start to resurface.

Old Boy (2013)
Elizabeth plays Marie Sebastian in this drama film directed by Spike Lee. In the movie, a man who is obsessed with vengeance sets out why he was kidnapped and locked into solitary confinement for 20 years. The movie also stars Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, and Rami Malek.

Aaron-Taylor Johnson
Aaron’s role as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron was short-lived (or was it?) but he was still a very memorable character that the fans of the movies loved to see on screen.

Kick-Ass (2010)
Many people don’t realize that Aaron is the same actor who played the wanna-be superhero in the hilarious comedy Kick-Ass. The film also starred Nicholas Cage, Chloe-Grace Moretz, and Evan Peters, who also played Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Anna Karenina (2012)
Aaron took on a more dramatic role in this 19th century tale of Russian high-society. In the film, the St. Petersburg aristocrat Anna Karenina, played by Keira Knightly, has a life-altering affair with the charming Count Alexei Vronsky, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson
