‘Aquaman 2’: DC president denies Amber Heard’s claim

Date:

DC Films president, Walter Hamada, was one of the witnesses heard on Tuesday (24), in the defamation lawsuit between Johnny Depp, 58, and Amber Heard, 36. The executive revealed that the studio considered the possibility of replacing the actress for the sake of chemistry with the star, Jason Momoa, 42.

The actress stated in court testimony that her career was harmed by the actions of her ex-husband. Amber said that Depp led a “smear campaign” against her through her network of relationships in Hollywood, the action would have even impacted on the reduction of her participation in the sequel to the long “Aquaman”, in which she plays Mera.

“They didn’t have a lot of chemistry together,” Hamada said. “Editorially they were able to make that relationship work in the first movie, but there was a concern that it took a lot of effort to get there.”

The president said the chemistry had to be created in post-production, using gimmicks like the film’s soundtrack. Hamada has made it clear that Amber Heard has not suffered any retaliation from the studio as a result of Depp’s lawsuit against her.

Directed by James Wan, “Aquaman 2” also stars Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe. The film opens in 2023.
