Thus, in an interview with The Independent, Burton said that 99% of the film is already completed. “I feel grateful that we achieved what we achieved. Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It’s 99% complete.”

The sequel to the classic 1998 comedy began filming in May this year, in London, during the Hollywood writers’ strike.

“Beetlejuice is the most fun you can have working,” said Michael Keaton, who returns to the role of the flashy spirit that gives the film its name. “We’re doing it exactly like we did in the first movie. There’s a woman in the big waiting room of the afterlife, literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – pulling a cat’s tail to make it move.”

In addition to Keaton, the cast features the return of Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, the sequel will also be marked by new faces, such as Jena Ortega who played “Wednesday” in the Netflix serie directed by Tim Burton. The film will also feature Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux.

“Beetlejuice 2” is scheduled to debut in theaters on September 6, 2024.
