The article explains that initially, Sheeran obtained authorization to build a chapel on land he owns, valued at US$5 million. The chapel is intended to celebrate weddings for your friends.

However, in an interview given by Sheeran to GQ Hype magazine, the creator of hits like “Shape Of You” revealed that he requested the creation of a place below the chapel for a possible tombstone.

“I wouldn’t call it a crypt. It’s a space carved into the ground with a piece of stone over it. So when the time comes and I pass away, I can be buried there,” Ed Sheeran explained to GQ Hype. “Some people think it’s a strange and morbid idea, but I’ve had friends pass away without leaving a will, and no one knew what to do.” The design of the tomb, according to Ed Sheeran, is based on his desire for his farewell to follow a more “traditional” format, as his family opted for cremation. He believes this would provide a different grieving process than cremation.
