According to information from Variety, before her death, Lisa sent emails to the film’s director, Sofia Coppola, in an attempt to stop production recordings. Lisa expressed her concerns, stating, “My father is portrayed solely as a predator and manipulator. As his daughter, I can identify no trace of him in this character, nor my mother’s view of him.”

In messages released by the portal, Elvis Presley’s only daughter argued that the film’s script did not reflect her father’s true personality and criticized the portrayal of the King of Rock, noting: “When reading this script, I see a surprisingly vindictive and disrespectful approach .”

Sofia Coppola, director of films such as “Marie Antoinette,” “The Virgin Suicides” and “Bling Ring,” responded to the artist, explaining that the production sought to honor Priscilla Presley and expressing the hope that Lisa would change her mind after watching the film. Coppola stated, “I hope that when you see the final film, you will have a different perspective and realize that I am treating your mother with respect while at the same time portraying your father in a sensitive and complex way.” Unfortunately, Lisa Marie Presley passed away on January 12, at the age of 54, from a cardiac arrest, and never saw the finished film named after her mother.
