In his Instagram account, Jonas shared a Reel of him and his mom Denise Jonas, to talk about the four different signs that could lead to a diabetes diagnosis. The video starts with Denise explaining that Nick got diagnosed 18 years ago. Then Nick appears and says that he experienced all of the symptoms, such as frequent urination, excessive thirst, exhaustion and unexplained weight loss.

“Nick was very enthusiastic as a child. He was very driven, so when he started to exhibit these signs, I was alarmed, but I think I was in denial”, explains Denise. In the Reel caption, Nick wrote that his family and “especially” his mom “noticed a change in me”, which led to the diagnosis. “I was lucky enough to have this incredible support system around me that noticed these signs, helped me make the decision to get checked and ultimately saved my life”, Nick added.

“As a new father myself, I understand how important it is to be on the lookout for these signs as my daughter grows up”, he continues, referring to his daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, whom he shares with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Nick also said that they hope to spread awareness of Type 1 diabetes. “So whether you’re a parent or a parental figure in someone’s life or just a big brother or sister, whatever your relationship is, be on the lookout, see those signs, go get checked”. He also shared a link for additional resources at his diabetes non-profit, beyondtype1.org/seethesigns.
