The reports claimed that Charli XCX and Julia Michaels had been asked to write songs for Britney’s new album. The singer denied the claims. “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash !!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album…”, she started.

“I will never return to the music industry !!! When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!!”, Britney continued, in an Instagram post. The pop star also said that she had written more than 20 songs for other artists over the past two years.

“For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!!”. No songs written by Spears have ever been released, leading to the possibility that she uses a pseudonym to write for others.

“People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth … have you read the news these days ??? I’m so LOVED and blessed !!!”, she finished the post.

Britney hasn’t released a full album since 2016. In her memoir “The Woman in Me”, she wrote that, despite her recent collaboration with Elton John, “advancing my music career is not my focus right now. It’s time for me not to be someone other people want; it’s time for me to find myself.”
