Italia Independent opens their first U.S. store in the heart of Soho; 85 Mercer Street to be exact!
The Flagship store has opened in the very heart of Soho, one of the trendiest districts of Manhattan, famous for fashion, art and its simultaneously bohemian and contemporary atmosphere.
Lapo Elkann, Chairman and Co-Founder of Italia Independent stated: “We are extremely excited, after opening our American branch in Miami, to continue our development of the Brand in the United States by opening our new Soho store, just as the festive season is about to begin. Although Italia Independent is already widely distributed in the United States, we needed the concept of our Brand to be accessible to everyone. We knew that this would only be possible by opening a flagship store which would allow customers to enjoy an all-round experience of it.
Andrea Tessitore, CEO and Co-Founder of Italia Independent commented: “The New York opening is another step forward towards strengthening the Brand internationally, in line with the long-term development plan that we are determinedly implementing. The United States is not only the world’s top market for eyewear, but also a vehicle of extraordinary global visibility.
The NY opening follows that of Paris and is part of a major plan to create “leading points of sale” which Italia Independent will continue in the future with stores in Los Angeles and Miami.
The two-story floor plan, like previous ‘I-I creations’, was designed by Changedesign, and creative factory led by Renato Montagner. The contemporary design blends in perfectly with the retro-structure keeping in place the original building details which will no doubt make a huge impact in the already fashionable community.
All materials and equipment used carry the ‘Essilor’ brand, the French multinational industry leader; the interior design was a collaboration with ‘Divel Italia’, a leading Italian company in the production of sunglasses.
