World affairs tend to distract from celebrity modeling. Or that’s at least how it goes when you’re the First Lady.
The political week began with tumultuous in-fighting in Washington D.C. and is ending with strife and armed conflict, causing the press corps to quite-understandably ignore art and fashion. But diplomacy, stateliness and giving elegant welcome to world leaders may be more crucial than ever, and that’s where Melania Trump comes in handy.
Melania wowed an A-list diplomatic contingent from China at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida that included Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan with a sleeveless red daisy-appliqué crepe midi dress by Valentino, estimated to cost around $4000, on Thursday.
Besides being the background color of the Chinese flag, red is also associated with good luck and celebration in China.
