Aretha Franklin, whose impassioned, riveting voice made earned her the undisputed title of the Queen of Soul, died Thursday morning age 76 at her home in Detroit of pancreatic cancer, as confirmed by a family statement.
“In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart. We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins knew no bounds,” Franklin’s family said.
The news of her passing has also taken a punch among celebrities, who are taking to social media to mourn the late legend.
