Don’t be expecting the reigning queen of pop at the 2019 Grammy Awards this year. Ariana Grande won’t perform at the Grammy’s after disagreement with the ceremony’s producers.
Multiple outlets report that the star apparently felt “insulted” after the Grammys production team disallowed her to sing her trap-inspired single 7 Rings at the upcoming function. It’s been claimed they then reached a compromise of a medley which would allow her to sing part of the new song, only under the condition that the producers would choose the second song, to which Grande said no, thank you (next!).
Ari ditching the Grammys leaves the ceremony without the most talked about performers of the las two years. Not only is she leading the Billboard charts with the number one song in the country, but she also snubbed a Grammy nomination in all of the major categories—Best Pop Vocal Performance for God is a Woman and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.
Yes—Lady Gaga will still take the stage. But Ariana Grande won’t perform at the Grammys and we really have no tears left to cry over this news.
