In Hollywood actor Jon Voight spoke out in a recent interview stating he feels his daughter Angelina Jolie deserves more credit.
The actress turned director scored three nominations at the 87th Annual Academy Awards, she was ignored in the Best Director category for ‘Unbroken’. Instead, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences chose to recognize Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman), Richard Linklater (Boyhood), Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher) and Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game). ‘Unbroken’ is nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
Voight said, “I wish she had been nominated, because I think she deserved it, I think her direction is astounding, really astounding, and if she wasn’t my daughter, I’d still say, I want to work for that one.’ She’s a great actor’s director, the pace of the film, the size of the film. Unbelievably difficult stuff that she accomplished.”
Jolie did earn a Best Director nod at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, but lost to Linklater.
