“Say it to my face!” Madonna speaks about sexism & critisim in her latest interview

Madonna just keeps on goin, thank god!

The blonde does have ambition, making the 25th anniversary cover of Cosmopolitan in 1990 and now the 56-year-old singer is back for the monthly’s 50th anniversary issue.

In the interview, the provocative singer, mother of four, director and actress insisted: “We still live in a very sexist society that wants to limit people. Don’t be fooled, not much has changed, certainly not for women.”

The ‘Rebel Heart’ singer spoke with Cosmopolitan about her long career, recent collaborations, and the changes she’s seen over the past 30 years as a superstar. She spoke candidly about her longevity and what that has meant for her image.

She states… “Popularity comes and goes, you need to know who you are, what you stand for, and why you’re here.”

While the singer is known for her tough exterior she hasn’t been immune to criticism, especially with advancing age. “Since I started, I’ve had people giving me a hard time because they didn’t think you could be sexual or have sexuality or sensuality in your work and be intelligent at the same time. For me, the fight has never ended.”

When speaking of her most recent album and collaborating with Kanye West she said…“It’s a little bit of a bullfight, but we take turns, He knows that he’s walking into a room with a person with a strong point of view, and I do too.We didn’t agree on everything, but he has good ideas.’

She also spoke on the issue of criticism and how it has grown in many ways with the rise of the internet. “You can hide behind your computer or your phone and say whatever you want, could you say it to my face? Would you say it to my face? I doubt it.”

The force of nature will embark on a world tour to promote ‘Rebel Heart’ in August and the Anniversary issue will be out April 14th.
