The first glimpse of the highly-anticipated Friends reunion has surfaced from a source fans of the sitcom might think is unlikely.
Kaley Cuoco shared the photo of the reunited Friends cast, but in the place of Matthew Perry are the rest of the The Big Bang Theory cast members.
This photo is record of the first time David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, and Courteney Cox have all posed together since the end of the show in 2004, but it isn’t quite what fans of the show might have hoped for, Vanity Fair reports.
Cuoco’s post confirmed reports that the reunion would be less of a Friends reunion and more of a Golden Globes-style event to honour the show’s frequent director, James Burrows. He can only be seen making an unintentional cameo in the star-studded picture between Cuoco and Johnny Galecki, her co-star in The Big Bang Theory.
It was reported earlier that Matthew Perry would not be in attendance as he is in London rehearsing for his new stage play The End of Longing. “It’s not the Friends reunion that everyone is hoping,” Perry said then. This seemed to have been the case at the taping of the two-hour NBC special.
Less optimistic fans of Burrows-directed shows like Frasier and Cheers can also look forward to the possibility of similar nostalgia-laced pictures from their casts, albeit without Kelsey Grammer.
