Don’t worry, the sex memoirs Simon Cowell intends to turn into a raunchy new TV series is not his own.
The reality TV king’s production company Syco has seen the commercial potential in filming a TV series based on Emma Sayle’s raunchy 2014 memoir Behind the Mask. “Someone brought the book to his attention and he immediately saw pound signs,” an insider told British newspaper The Sun.
The 56-year-old music mogul will mine the same commercial vein as the similarly raunchy film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, The Sun reports. “Fifty Shades of Grey made hundreds of millions when it was turned into a film and Behind the Mask has all the right ingredients to be a huge hit,” the insider added.
It is also reported that Sayle, who hosted notorious sex parties in the UK’s first sharia hotel in London, will act as a co-executive producer on the show.
The show would mark the first attempt by Syco, which is owned by Sony, to branch out from reality TV shows such as X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent to fictional TV drama.
