Cindy Crawford will step away from camera lenses and retire after she turns 50 this month.
Although Crawford quit full-time modelling in 2000, she has remained highly in-demand, but has now grown tired of “proving” herself, United Airlines’ Rhapsody magazine reports.
Now the 49-year-old model has said she will retire after a highly successful two-decade career.
“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore,” she said. “I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”
Cindy, a mother to son Presley (16) and daughter Kaia (14) with husband Rande Gerber, will turn 50 on February 20 and she has said she will embrace it in an attempt to age gracefully.
“Women like Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda, they look amazing and they look appropriate. They look amazing but they’re not trying to look 30,” she said, passing the torch to her daughter. “I don’t want to be trying to compete with my 14-year-old daughter – because I would lose!”
