George Clooney had to wait on one knee for 25 minutes while his then-girlfriend Amal Alamuddin thought about his marriage proposal!
The Hail, Caesar! star told Ellen DeGeneres he feared that he would throw out his hip waiting for the “Yes” to come from Amal.
“I got down on my knee and said: ‘I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life without you.’ And she kept looking at the ring and she was looking at me and she was like ‘Oh my God.’”
Clooney, who was comfortably seated on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, said he finally couldn’t take the excruciating wait anymore and pushed for an answer using his age as an excuse.
“Finally, I literally said: ‘Look, I hope the answer’s yes, but I need an answer. I’m 52 and I could throw out my hip pretty soon.’ And she said, ‘Oh, yes’ and it worked out really well.”
Clooney said he had record of the time it took, because he had a music playlist selected for the night of his big proposal: “We now know because there is a playlist, so we know how long it actually took. It’s like 25 minutes, 25 minutes!”
Clooney and the 38-year-old Lebanese-British human rights lawyer got married in September 2014.
