Before he was asked to audition for the role of a young Han Solo, actor Miles Teller had never even seen Star Wars.
The 29-year-old actor revealed he was a total newcomer to the sci-fi franchise when he met with the filmmakers at the helm of the origin story of the space smuggler, Business Insider reports.
“I had never even seen any of the original Star Wars movies until maybe a month before, or a couple weeks before my first audition because I was like, ‘I should check this out,’” he said of his meeting with Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The Whiplash star has reportedly since been ruled out of the starring role with Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor and Alden Ehrenreich now favorites to take the wheel of the Millenium Falcon. Teller has, however, lauded the original Han for his acting in the Star Wars films.
“I just love Harrison Ford. I think it’s a great character. I love his brand, I mean so many guys would’ve played that part so wrong and he has humour at the right times, but he’s masculine,” he said in his appearance on the happysadconfused podcast.
Details on the film slated for a May 25th 2018 release are still scarce with some insiders claiming it will not be a cut and dry origin story.
