Prince had been suffering from Aids in the months leading up to his sudden death in an elevator last week, it has been claimed.
Sources reportedly close to the music icon told National Enquirer that he had been diagnosed six months prior to his sudden death at the age of 57.
“Doctors told Prince his blood count was unusually low and that his body temperature had dropped dangerously below the normal 98.6 degrees to 94 degrees,” an anonymous source told the publication.
“He was totally iron-deficient, very weak and often disoriented. He rarely ate and when he did, it all came right back up,” the source continued.
It was reported earlier that the Purple Rain singer weighed only 80lbs at the time of his death.
According to National Enquirer Prince had been diagnosed with HIV in the 90s and it could have developed into Aids towards the end of his life.
A statement made by people close to the star claims he died of complications from influenza, an infection that could prove fatal to a person whose immune system had been drastically weakened by Aids.
