Former One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles has just signed a new record deal that will see him set off on a new career as a solo artist.
The 22-year-old signed with Columbia Records, who also supported 1D, despite repeated interest from Sony Music, Billboard reports.
Sources told the publication there is no timeline for releases laid out thus far and the details of the contract are also unknown at the time of writing.
Last year, Styles registered four songs he wrote with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), so his new deal should come as little surprise to teenage girls on Twitter.
Since the boys of 1D decided to go their own way last year, Styles has kept himself busy branching out into film and working with Christopher Nolan on his new World War II drama, Dunkirk.
Styles will follow in the footsteps of former 1D bandmate Zayn Malik who quit the band prior to its hiatus to pursue a solo career.
