Adele has given up pizza and she did it for the only valid reason a person could ever have – to preserve her voice.
Doctors have warned the Hello hitmaker that chowing down on her favourite cheesy dish could negatively affect her throat and her superhuman singing ability, Daily Star reports.
“I can’t eat pizza anymore, guys,” she said. “How bad is that? Because it’s got cooked tomatoes on it which are bad for your throat and give you acid reflux.”
The 28-year-old singer is currently touring in the United States, but she won’t be able to dig into its famous pizza.
“I’m in America and I can’t eat pizza no more. It’s worse than Romeo and Juliet! If only Shakespeare was alive, he could write about it,” she said.
It is a big sacrifice, but one Adele is willing to make after she ruptured a vocal cord in 2011.
“I had laser surgery. [They] put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser your haemorrhage back together and fix it,” she said in 2012. “If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again.”
