Ryan Lochte punishment ‘unfair’

Ryan Lochte will be punished by the United States Olympic Committee for his behaviour at the 2016 Olympic Games, but some believe it is unfair.

Lochte’s lawyer, Jeff Ostrow, told TMZ that he has faith that the USOC will punish the 12-time Olympic medallist appropriately after he lied about being robbed in Rio de Janeiro.

However, sources close to Lochte, Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and teammate Jimmy Feigen believe a six-month suspension is too harsh and will only serve to appease those who are out for their blood.

We reported earlier that Lochte’s teammates told Brazilian police that he fabricated his account of an alleged armed robbery to cover up their own act of vandalism at a gas station in the city.

However, sources close to the swimmer are quick to point out that another US Olympic hero, Michael Phelps, got a six-month suspension after he was busted for his second DUI in 2014.

They claim that although Lochte and the rest were also drunk, they did not get behind the wheel and that counts for something.
