Imagine reporting for some grim jury duty in a horrific case one Monday morning only to find out Taylor Swift is doing the same!
That is exactly what happened in Nashville on Monday when the pop star turned up for jury duty in an aggravated rape and kidnapping case in Nashville, Guardian reports.
Many wondered if Kanye West’s annoying omnipresence or her recent breakup had something to do with Taylor’s absence from the MTV VMAs on Sunday, but now we know the answer.
She didn’t have to stick around long for the mundane chore, though, because the Davidson County District Attorney General’s Office spokesperson Ken Whitehouse said she was quickly released.
“She asked to be left off out of concern for an upcoming trial in Denver where she was — she used the term ‘groped’ — by a fan at a meet-and-greet,” Whitehouse said.
It was reported earlier that former radio host David Mueller sued Swift in September last year claiming that he lost his job over false accusations he grabbed her buttocks at a photoshoot in 2013.
The 26-year-old pop sensation then launched a counterclaim in which her lawyer said she was “upset, offended, and alarmed” by the alleged assault.
That pending case has made jury duty in the aforementioned trial a bit tricky, so Taylor was released.
Not before she posed for some selfies with her fellow would-be jurors, though!
