Former pro wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been named as Hollywood’s highest-paid actor and we are in shock!
The 44-year-old mountain of muscle launched up the Forbes rich list after he doubled his earnings of the previous year to rake in $64.5m between June 2015 and June 2016.
A large chunk of that change came from his roles in the Fast & Furious franchise and massive upfront fees for both Baywatch and Fast 8.
“Want to say two things about this,” the actor tweeted after the news broke. “I started w/ $7 bucks. If I can overcome, so can you. Waffle House on me!!”
Somewhat surprisingly, Johnson beat other action veterans Tom Cruise, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. to the top spot!
We also recently reported that Jennifer Lawrence topped the list of female actors for the same period, but the men’s list proves there is still some pay disparity in Hollywood as she is below the Top 5 on this list:
