Brad Pitt is furious with Angelina Jolie after she surprised him with divorce papers and started questioning his parenting style.
The 41-year-old beauty filed for divorce on Monday after two years of marriage, but the World War Z star is reportedly upset over the effect her handling of the situation will have on their kids.
The 52-year-old reportedly wanted to handle the divorce “like adults,” because he didn’t want to disrupt their six children, Maddox (15), Pax (12), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10) and twins Knox and Vivienne (eight).
Sources say the couple’s parenting styles did not match at all and it eventually led to serious problems.
“Angie believes everything the children tell her. They can do no wrong in her eyes, everything they say becomes the gospel truth,” a source told British newspaper Daily Mail. “Brad has always been stricter. He has wanted the kids to have more structure.”
Pitt was also reportedly taken by surprise by the divorce papers despite having lengthy conversations with Jolie about their possible split.
“Brad only found out about the divorce decision on Monday,” an insider told Us Weekly. “The final divorce decision was only made one week ago. An incident took place and prompted Angelina to act and file.”
In documents filed to the court, Angelina is asking for joint legal custody of their six children, but is seeking sole physical custody.
In a statement, Brad said: “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids.”
“I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
