It’s official: Lady Gaga will perform at Super Bowl LI on February 5 next year!
The flamboyant pop sensation took to Twitter to announce the news on Thursday. “It’s not an illusion. The rumors are true,” she tweeted. “This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA!”
Gaga’s announcement comes three weeks after the release of her latest single, “Perfect Illusion.”
Around the time of its release, Billboard reported the rumors, but Gaga did not confirm her involvement at the time.
We also recently reported that Adele was approached to perform, but she turned down the opportunity.
“First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl,” Adele said in a video posted on Twitter in August. “I mean, come on, that show is not about music.”
Coldplay was the main performer at Super Bowl 50 this year and they shared the stage with Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.
Lady Gaga performed the US national anthem and got rave reviews for her atypical, restrained performance.
Surely her halftime performance will bring back the weirdness?
