Simon Cowell ‘sorry’ for making 1D famous

Simon Cowell has said that he feels disappointed that none of the One Direction boys approached him with their solo projects.

The music mogul expressed sadness after Zany Malik and the others opted not to involve him despite the fact that he supported their progress ever since they were propped up together during The X Factor.

“I hear so many things now, which they’re doing, which I’m not involved with,” he said. “It’s a bit like I’m getting the hint you don’t want me to come to the party. Sorry for making you famous…”

“Look, I’m not going to lie when I hear they’re doing something, and they haven’t approached me. You think, ‘Well I would have liked you to,’ but it’s their choice. I’m not bitter – much.”

When asked if he has any involvement in Zayn Malik’s new memoir, he answered: “You know what? I genuinely don’t care.”

Zayne was of course the first 1D member to go solo, but his career has gotten off to a stuttering start after failing to appear on stage numerous times due to severe anxiety.

Cowell was also annoyed that Liam Panye decided to sign with Capitol Records for the start of his solo career.

“It is a bit annoying if I am honest with you – mainly because it is another label who has now got your artist who you worked with for so many years,” he said. “But that is the music business, unfortunately. I don’t think anyone else from the band will do that.”

“I do actually believe that when they’ve got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me.”

Now who wouldn’t want to work with a guy like that?
