Veteran film star and sometimes-controversial social activist Susan Sarandon has seen her share of Hollywood feuds, even portraying them on her current series Feud. But the 70 year-old icon is now attempting to debunk a 20 year-old story of a rift between Sarandon and Julia Roberts on the set of the film Stepmom. “Press printed that Julia & I hated each other during Stepmom. Found out it was my PR person creating rumors,” the actress tweeted over the weekend.
Sarandon also coyly floated the idea that she could be romantically involved with Feud co-star Jessica Lange. “Not only do we get along, we’re now dating,” she posted in response to a fan.
The star of “Dead Man Walking” and “Thelma and Louise” also seemed to address her history of in-fighting over Instagram last week, posting a Betty Davis quote in a simple meme. “If everybody likes you, you’re pretty dull,” the quote reads.
But some skeptical writers aren’t ready to give up on Susan vs Julia…or at least they’re tired of hearing the actors downplay the story. Internet mirth-man Bobby Finger quickly typed an essay in response to Sarandon’s social media posts. “I, like Sarandon, was also accused of feuding with Julia Roberts on the set of Stepmom. But I did not have “disruptive arguments” with Roberts over creative differences while filming the iconic story of a young woman,” Finger wrote with tongue obviously in cheek.
