Is this the real life or is this just fantasy?
Lucky us, Queen’s biopic film is as real as Freddy Mercury’s vocal super powers.
On Friday evening Queen’s official site reported that the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody “is finally happening”.
“After months of speculation, QOL can also confirm that the film is now ‘as-close-as-that’ to start shooting,” the band wrote. “Pre-production begins next week in the UK to prepare for start of principal photography in around London as soon as mi-September.”
The film will follow the life of the iconic singer Freddie Mercury, who will be played by Mr. Robot star Rami Malek.
“He’s completely living and breathing Freddy already, which is just wonderful to see,” May recently told on an interview.
The band also confirmed Bryan Singer as director of the project, whose previous credits include The Usual Suspects, Superman Returns, and a number of X-Men movies.
“If you’ve even seen Singer’s […] films, you’ll know this is a director with extraordinary imagination and style,” the band wrote in their official statement. “A perfect choice to recreate the fabulous Queen years which brought us such unforgettable moments as Live Aid, which we can revel will be faithfully recreated for a key sequence the film.”
The Queen site also promised to report on who will play May, Taylor, and former bassist John Deacon when the news becomes available.
We are floating around in ecstasy with this news!
