It was a good year for Emma!
Not only did La la land won her a Best Actress Oscar, but it also landed Emma Stone at the top of Forbe’s annual list of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses.
Stone’s role as aspiring actress and barista Mia in the Lost Angeles-set movie musical, among other projects, earned her at $26 million paycheck pretax in a 12-months considered by the outlet.
“I moved here when I was 15 to start auditioning, I knew what it felt like to go on audition after audition,” Stone said after accepting her Academy Award earlier this year. And those auditions— SPOILER ALERT! just like it happened to her character—have finally paid off.
In a close second place came Friends star Jennifer Aniston, who pulled in $25.5 million. Although she’s continued to appear in movie such as The Yellow Bird, according to Forbes, Aniston’s earnings come mainly from endorsing companies like Emirate airlines, Smartwater, and Aveeno.
Holding the third position, the second Jenn in the list was Jennifer Lawrence, who earned $24 million, more than $20 million less than last year, when she top-ranked the list. But that’s because that same year she took home her final Hunger Games paycheck.
Rounding the top five female earners are Melissa McCarthy with $18 million, and Mila Kunis with $15.5 million.
The highest-paid actresses list comes one month after Emma Stone made headlines for revealing that her male co-stars had taken pay cuts to make sure she could achieve parity for doing the same job.
“In my career so far, I’ve needed my male co-stars to take pay cut so that I may have parity with them. And that’s something they do for me because they feel it’s what’s right and fair. That’s something that’s also not discussed, necessarily—that our getting equal pay is going to require people to selflessly say, ‘that’s what’s fair’. If my male co-star, who has a higher quote than me but believe we are equal, takes a pay cut so that I can match him, that changes my quote in the future and changes my life.”
Although the Crazy, Stupid Love actress didn’t reveal which one of her castmates took the bullet, we wonder how much more he was offer after learning about Emma Stone’s 2017 earnings. I guess we’ll have to wait until the list of highest-paid actors Forbes list is released!
