Almost two weeks after giving birth to her first child, tennis star Serena Williams is ready to share her baby girl with the world.
On Wednesday morning, Williams posted a picture of herself cradling he newborn daughter on her official Instagram account.
“Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.” she captioned the picture.
Although the cute portrait of Serena’s baby girl has grasped the attention of the media from all around the world, many of us were even more surprised to learn the very interesting name choice for the newborn. Like, for example, the fact that she shares first name with her father, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, the Jr. title despite being a girl, or that her middle name is most likely inspired on new-mom Serena’s four Olympic gold medals.
Along with the snap that already has over 600 thousand likes on Instagram, Williams asked her followers to visit her official website and to check her Instagram Stories, which features a two-minute video of her pregnancy journey title “Hello, world”.
The video follows the couple as they prepare to welcome the baby with classes, visits to the doctor, painting the nursery, Grand-Slam winnings, and some extravagant dancing. They also show Williams practicing tennis.
One of the clips shows Williams holding her daughter saying, “So we’re leaving the hospital after six, seven days. It’s been a long time. We had a lot of complications, but look who we got: We got a baby girl. Junior.”
The video ends with the baby’s stats, including “Grand Slam Titles: 1.”
