Tyra Banks rose to international fame during the 90’s working with renowned brands such as Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Dior, and Michael Kors. Since her days on the catwalks, the supermodel has ventured into TV, hosting shows like America’s Next Top Model and America’s Got Talent.
Now, Banks is ready to publish her memoirs in a book titled Perfect Is Boring. But how can she criticize the ideals of perfection set by society when Tyra herself refuses to accept her past with plastic surgery?
After years of speculation, her conscience has made her speak. Tyra Banks, who had never before admitted to have plastic surgery done on her face, has finally opened up about a nose job she had at the early stages of her career.
“I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching,” the 44-year-old model explained in an interview with People magazine. “I could breathe fin, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel like I have a responsibility to tell the truth.”
Much in tune with the title of her book, Banks also took the opportunity to fire back against those who criticize cosmetic surgeries. “Natural beauty is unfair. I get really uncomfortable when women who are these natural beauties judge anybody who does anything to themselves,” Banks said.
She then added: “We place a lot of emphasis on that. As a model, I need makeup. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It leveled my playing field. Giselle, you don’t need it? I do! And we’re both modeling for Victoria’s Secret.
No makeup selfies—your days are numbered!
