After 2 years of marriage and a decade together, Usher and his wife Grace Miguel have announced their separation in a joint statement published in Us Weekly.
“After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”
Although the couple was married for only two years, the 39-year-old singer, whose full name is Usher Raymond IV, and his 48-year-old manager, Miguel, started dating in 2009, after the Love Is In The Club singer split from his first wife, Temeka Foster.
After seven years together, Usher and Grace were married in a private ceremony in Cuba.
The former couple has yet to confirmed the reasons for their breakup, although multiple publications note the separation comes after three women accused Usher last year of giving them herpes.
Despite the scandal 2017 scandal, the news of their breakup took fans by surprise, especially because earlier this year Grace Miguel shared a photo with her husband celebrating their upcoming 11th anniversary together. However, Usher may have already referred to their separation in social media, when the R&B star shared a photo getting a new tattoo.
“New era, new ink,” Usher captioned the picture.
