Behold, sk8er bois and sk8er girls from around the world! For Avril Lavigne (or is it her clone Melissa?) is coming back with new music!
After patiently waiting for five years since her last full-length release in 2013, the Canadian punk-pop princess has revealed that she’ll finally be finished with the long-in-the works new album, and that it’s coming out sooner that you think.
“It’s a really powerful record,” she told E!News on he first red carpet appearance in two years. “I’ve been working on this for three years. I can actually say this time I’m going to be done with this album in two weeks and I will put it out this year.”
The Complicated hit maker went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015 after revealing she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease, as reported by Billboard. The new LP will be very personal to reflect that experience and other personal struggles of recent years.
“I’ve been writing songs that are really just powerful and true and honest and sincere and I think people will really be able to relate to it,” Lavigne says. “I’ve gone through a lot of personal stuff in the past two years, and so I’ve really drawn from that. I mean, I always do, but this album is so different.”
As for the delay of the new record, originally set to be released last year, the singer promised the wait will be worth. “I know my fans have been waiting for a long time and some of them are unhappy,” Avril admitted. “But trust me, I’m doing everything I can and I just want it to be ready and everything to be perfect […] All the waiting and the hard work on my end will pay off, I promise.”
Seem like this really is a happy ending after all!
