Maybe they should work work work work work work it out.
Just when we had finally made our peace with the inevitable end of Rihanna and Drake’s romance, the singer is now opening up about the current state of their relationship—or lack of any, for that matter.
In Vogue’s June cover story, Rihanna admitted that, nearly two years after their abrupt breakup, she’s not even friends with the rapper anymore. “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either,” she told Vogue. “It is what it is.”
After Drake’s highly effusive speech professing his love for Rihanna at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards—which, btw, she also said it made her extremely “uncomfortable”—, many would think that RiRi is a bad gal for not even letting Drake into the friend zone.
But… is she really?
In a night that was supposed to be all about Rihanna, one of the biggest moments of her career, Drake decided to make her Vanguard Award all about himself and used that audience to try and guilt her into loving him back. So, poor Drake? Yeah—we don’t think so. He did it to himself. And Twitter seems to agree.
