Five Of The Original Avengers Got Matching Tattoos In Celebration of “Infinity War”

Sorry, Spidey. This one’s just for the initial line-up.

Five of the six original Avengers— Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye)— took a page out of The Lord of the Rings playbook and recently got matching tattoos to commemorate their super-team!

The design was a minimalistic Avengers logo intertwined with a “6,” which stands for the six original heroes from the franchise.

Robert Downey Jr. told Entertainment Weekly that it was all Scarlett Johansson’s idea. “She and Evans did it in New York,” he said. “Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did Renner, and then we just bullied Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it!”

Only Mark Ruffalo abstained from getting the tat. Apparently ink just isn’t how the Hulk rolls. But there was still a sixth person in the tattoo chair—the artist himself!

Each of the five Avengers stars made a line on his version of the stylized Avengers symbol. “Each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre,” Robert told EW. “‘Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess.”

We don’t know about you—but we’d be down to getting crappy tattoo if that meant my butt cheek would get inked by one of the Avengers (Chris Hemsworth, preferably, thank you very much!).
