You know how when we take a selfie we want to look our best? Seems like Sarah Hyland doesn’t really care about that as much as she does about raisin awareness about selfcare.
In honor of National Selfie Day, Modern Family star took to social media to reveal she was hospitalized by sharing a shocking photo of her “painful” swollen face.
“Sometimes a selfie is more than just a good angle or feeling cute. This time for #NationalSelfieDay, I’ve decided to share my truth. As painful as it is,” Hyland, 27, captioned the Instagram Story snap of her puffy eyes and cheeks from a hospital bed. “So here is my face that was torn from work against my will. But I’m very grateful it was. Health should always come first.”
Hyland followed up her post with a sweet video of her “precious angel princess,” her dog, affectionately licking her face before she was rushed to the hospital. “She was literally telling me to get treatment.”
While she didn’t disclose the exact reason why she was hospitalized on June 18, Sarah has previously opened up about her battle with kidney dysplasia. Her condition required her to undergo a life-saving kidney transplant surgery in 2012, resulting in considerable weight loss.
“No one’s head should be bigger than their body but considering I’ve basically been on bed rest for the past few months, I’ve lost a lot of muscle mass. My circumstances have put me in a place where I’m not in control of what my body looks like. So I strive to be as healthy as possible, as everyone should,” she previously wrote on Twitter.
Get well soon, Sarah!
