Twitter Is Slamming Scarlett Johansson Over Her Most Recent Casting

In yet another casting fiasco, Scarlet Johansson—yes, the white, American, cis woman—will be once again teaming up with Rupert Sanders to tell the real-life story of Dante “Tex” Gill, a fat, Asian, transgender man.

And, for some strange reason [insert sarcasm here], Twitter isn’t necessarily sure ScarJo is a realistic casting for this particular film.

Clearly, Scarlett learned nothing from the Ghost In The Shell dustup, when she was accused of whitewashing the movie by taking the part of a Japanese women, which quickly sparked a sadly unsuccessful petition to recast her in the role.

And though she addressed the backlash in a 2017 interview with Marie Claire and said that she “certainly would never presume to play another race of a person,” here we are again, one year later, learning that she’s yet again taken another acting job from not one but two marginalized groups.

So, sorry, Scarlett, but we ain’t cutting you any slack this time around. Click through our photo gallery above to see what people are saying about Johansson’s casting as a fat, Asian, transgender man in her new upcoming film Rub & Tug.
