Idris Elba, The Next 007? James Bond Producers Eying The 45-Year-Old Actor For The Iconic Role

Idris Elba could very well become the first black 007 and we are shaken and stirred at the possibility.

For years, fans of the 45-year-old actor have been requesting (more like, demanding) to see Idris suit up and play everyone’s favorite spy. And now there’s a high possibility our dreams of Elba becoming the first ever black 007 could actually come true.

In an interview with the UK publication The Daily Star, director Antoine Fuqua says that James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli believes it is time to bring more diversity to the role and has left the door open for Elba to potentially succeed Daniel Craig in the iconic role.

The internet and Broccoli aren’t the only ones who think the Dark Tower star would be a good choice for the role. Elba has even been endorsed by former 007 (and our personal favorite), Pierce Brosnan, who said back in 2016 he thought Idris would make a good Bond.

And though Idris Elba hasn’t officially commented on Barbara Broccoli’s recent comments just yet, we already know how he feels about the idea of playing the role.

“It would be such an honor,” he said in an interview in 2014. “I mean, what do we have to do here? We have to wear beautiful suits, drive nice cars, chase bad guys and date beautiful women? I dunno, sounds good to me.”

And it sounds good to us too, Idris!
