Margot Robbie is the new Barbie girl. And all we can say is ah ah ah yeah!
The Barbie movie has a new lead…again. After being in development for the past four years, the Mattel project may be actually happening, with Margot Robbie stepping into Barbie’s little plastic heels.
According to new reports, the Oscar-nominee actress is in talks to take on the world’s most iconic blonde. And, if the latest development continues smoothly, Robbie would no only star as everyone’s favorite doll, but she would also produce the live-action film under her production company LuckyChap Entertainment.
The Warner Bros.’ film—who have reportedly taken over from Sony—has had a history about as complex as Barbie’s resume. Funny girl Amy Schumer was originally set to star as Ken’s girlfriend, but dropped out due to scheduling issues. She was later replaced by Anne Hathaway—who subsequently dropped out too.
Along with the Australian beauty, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is also rumored to join the pink team. So its fair to assume scriptwriters are toying (pun intended) with the idea of a more feminist Barbie.
So Margot, Patty, take the wheel… of this pink plastic convertible!
