Taylor Swift got political an she apparently cares more for PoC than Kanye West.
Don’t be fooled by her 2012 Red album, because Taylor Swift has declared herself blue! After years of refusing to join the debate, Taylor Swift got political over the weekend in a rare Instagram post.
“In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,” the pop star wrote on Instagram.
In her statement, the singer endorsed Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper and urged her followers to vote in the mid-term elections. However, what surprised fans the most was Taylor’s candid criticism against Tennessee Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn over her voting record regarding women’s rights, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.
“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me… [Those] are not MY Tennessee values.”
