Choupette the cat, Karl Lagerfeld’s 7-year old Birman pet which the late designer got form French model Baptiste Giabiconi in late 2011, has become famous in her own right, estabilishing a social media presence consisting of over 130k followers on Instagram.
However, Choupette is now making headlines because she stands to inherit a slice of Karl Lagerfeld’s estimated $273 million fortune.
“If something happens to me, the person who will take care of her will no be in misery,” Lagerfeld said in an interview in 2015. And all of the sudden, we’re no longer allergic to cats.
Many consider the cat’s plausible inheritance to be offensive. However, to be fair, Choupette will definitely need the money if she wants to keep up with her “rich girl” lifestyle— consisting of bodyguards, personal maids, on-call veterinarian, and the occasional mix of king crab, smoked salmon, and caviar.
