Rumor has it Angelina Jolie is joining Marvel. According to The Hollywood Reported, this Oscar winner could possibly star in The Eternals. It’s unclear exactly what role Jolie would be playing, but this would make her the first cast member to officially join the production.
The film is about “super powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants that were created by the cosmic beings called Celestials.” The Eternals is aiming to be Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most interesting projects. The introduction of the cosmic group will open a completely new fictional world.
The Eternals, which is slated to enter production later this year, reportedly involves a love story between Sersi, an Eternal who enjoys the company of humans, and Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy.
Aside from Sersi and Ikaris’ heterosexual romance, previous reports claimed Marvel Studios is looking to cast its first openly gay male lead for the upcoming 2020 film. We wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the reason why Angelina Jolie is joining Marvel. After all, she’s known for being a longtime advocate for gay rights.
