Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer and Constance Wu will also be part of Cadi B’s movie debut about strippers who get revenge on their clients.
The music superstar is adding acting to her resume. Cardi B has signed on to join Hustler’s star-studded drama leaded by Jennifer Lopez. Also joining Cardi B’s movie debut will be Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer and Constance Wu.
The movie, inspired by a real 2016 New York Magazine story, and written and directed by Lorene Scafaria—follows a savvy group of former strip club employees who band together to turn the table on their Wall Street clients.
Hustlers will begin shooting in New York City later this week.
Though the rapper has yet to publicly comment on the news, she has been very open about her previous career as a stripper, saying she hopes her rise to fame will encourage others to respect pole ballerinas.
“People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it,’” she told Cosmopolitan last year. “Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on… Just because somebody was a stripper don’t mean they don’t have no brain.”
Perhaps Cardi B’s movie debut will finally give strippers the respect and recognition they’ve long-deserve!
