Idris Elba Will Replace Will Smith In The New Suicide Squad Movie

There were not too many pieces from the supervillains movie that DC wanted to save—but Deadshot was one of them. However, despite Will Smith’s departure as a result of apparent scheduling conflicts, his character is still on board for the new Suicide Squad movie.

Rumor has it Idris Elba is stepping in to save the day. The actor is reportedly in discussions to don the sharpshooter’s costume. According to reports, the Sexiest Man Alive is apparently “the first and only choice for Gunn and the studio.”

The new Suicide Squad movie is a soft relaunch of the originally failed concept, and will likely include a largely different set of characters from its predecessor. The script apparently only has Harley, Deadshot, and Rick Flagg set to return. However, other sources claim Joel Kinnaman’s character is out of the mix, as Flagg has been reportedly written out of more recent drafts.

the movie is slated to be released until August 2021, but we won’t have to wait that long to see Idris Elba back on films. The actor will be seen as the villain in Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw. Then there’s the movie adaptation of hit stage musical Cats arrives in December.

He may no be playing James Bond, but we still got plenty Idris Elba on the big screen!
