The media harassment against the Duchess of Sussex continues. As if her alleged feud with Kate Middleton wasn’t enough bad press, the most recent reports say the royal staff has a new nickname for Meghan Markle: “Me-Gain.”
News that the actress-turned-royal is difficult to work for first broke five months ago when the Duchess’ personal assistant, reportedly named Melissa, quit just six months into the job. According to reports ‘Melissa’ resigned due to all the chaos with Meghan’s dad and other relatives.
And though there’s little-to-no-proof to the new nickname for Meghan Markle—along others that include “Difficult Duchess” and “Tantrum Tiara”—, that doesn’t make the reports any less hurtful. Specially for Prince Harry.
“He would be angry that something like this is coming out,” Dickie Arbiter, the former palace press secretary, said in an interview. “I mean, you were here for the wedding and you saw how the media were operating. They were putting Meghan and Harry right up on a pedestal. Since the end of the summer in the autumn, they have been chipping away at those pedestals and really having a go.”
On top of dealing with the Princess Diana-like media scrutiny against his wife right in the midst of their pregnancy, Prince Harry is also said to be feuding with his brother, Prince William. According to royal filmmaker Nick Bullen it’s actually the royal brothers who have had a rift. “All brothers fall out. All families fall out. Their fallout at the moment is becoming public.”
Given the royal drama, this probably is the least of their problems right now. But the new nickname for Meghan Markle certainly isn’t making things any easier for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!
