Camila Mendes was victim of sexual assault. The Riverdale star bravely spoke for the first time about the “very, very bad experience” during her college years in a recent interview with Women’s Health.
In the cover story for the magazine, the 25-year-old actress opened up about a terrifying experience during her freshman year at New York University.
“I had a very, very bad experience,” Mendes told the outlet. “I was roofied by someone who sexually assaulted me.”
Though she didn’t name her assaulter nor shared any more details about the incident, she did explain the ordeal led her to tattoo the words “to build a home” on her lower ribcage, which she says serves her as a reminder to “strengthen both her sense of self and the environment around her,” according to Women’s Health.
“Whenever I feel like I’m going through something difficult, I think about what I can do physically for myself,” she said.
Aside from the fact that Camila Mendes was victim of sexual assault, the actress also spoke about her ongoing battle with bulimia, clarifying she’s “only recently gotten better” thanks to the help of her therapist and nutritionist.
“I need professionals I trust to tell me things that I didn’t know.”
